Education Problems in Indonesia, so what's the solution?

Developing countries in the world that still have big problems in the world of education. We have the purpose of having a state of "educating the life of the nation" which should be the axis for the development of the development of national welfare and culture. What we feel now is a lag in the quality of education. The low quality of education hinders the provision of human resources who have the expertise and skills to meet the nation's development in various fields.

Many factors and problems that cause education in Indonesia can not develop, including:

(1). The high cost of education.

Education in Indonesia becomes difficult for those who live below the poverty line. The majority of Indonesia's population below the poverty line results in their neglect in terms of education. In addition to the willingness of those who have never grown up and are aware of education, economic factors are the main reason for them not to touch the world of education.

The government has launched free education and even 12-year compulsory education, but other costs that must be borne by students are not free. The cost of traveling to school, buying books, uniforms and other school equipment is not cheap. They must think of other costs besides the cost of education which is even more expensive than the cost of education itself. In addition, the rising cost of living sometimes makes people prefer to work for a living rather than having to continue their education

(2). Inadequate educational facilities

The problem with education in Indonesia is that education facilities are still inadequate. Many schools that have almost collapsed buildings, do not have supporting facilities such as study desks, books, technology equipment, and other supporting tools that cause education cannot develop optimally.

(3). Low opportunity for equal distribution of education,

The attention given by the government in terms of education in cities and villages is very different. The government which is more concerned with education in urban areas makes the quality of education in urban and rural areas become unequal. One example is in the matter of teacher welfare. Teacher salaries in villages are much lower compared to teacher salaries in the city. This causes many teachers who prefer to work in cities rather than in villages. As a result the quality of teachers in cities is better than teachers in villages. In addition to the problem of teacher welfare, there are also imbalances in assistance to education facilities, and many other things. So do not be surprised if the quality of education in Indonesia is still uneven where the quality of education in cities is better than in villages.

The solution that can be given from the above problems is among others by changing social systems related to the education system. The government must be sensitive to the condition of education in each region and can take definite steps to improve quality in accordance with the conditions of each region. Not only the government, but the people must also shoulder to shoulder with the government to be able to increase awareness that education is important and can always oversee educational activities in Indonesia. The development of the world in the era of globalization is indeed demanding a lot of changes in the system of national education that is better and able to compete healthily in all fields. Increasing the quality of education means that human resources are born will get better quality and will be able to bring this nation to compete in a healthy manner in all fields of the international world.
