Some method for practicing writing skills

Writing Learning Methods

In learning to write, several methods are used, namely:

1. The direct method

Direct teaching methods are specifically designed to develop student learning about procedural knowledge and declarative knowledge that is well structured and can be learned step by step. In the direct method, there are five important phases: the preparation and motivation phase, the demonstration phase, the guidance phase, the checking phase, and the advanced training phase. For example: the teacher shows pictures of floods that hit a village or directly observes a flood event in a village. From these pictures, students can make writing coherently and logically based on images.

2. Communicative Methods

Designs that contain communicative methods must cover all language skills. Each goal is organized into learning. Each learning is specified in a concrete goal which is the final product. For example: communicative methods can be done by writing dialogue techniques. Students write dialogues about what they do in an activity. This activity can be carried out individually or in groups.

3. Integrative Method

Integrative means uniting several aspects into one process. Integrative is divided into two parts: inter-field of study and inter-field of study. Inter-field studies mean several aspects in one field of study are integrated. For example: writing is integrated with speaking and reading. The interdisciplinary study means the integration of materials from several fields of study. For example: between Indonesian and mathematics or other fields of study.

4. Thematic Method

In the thematic method, all components of learning material are integrated into the same theme in one unit meeting. The theme that has been determined must be processed in accordance with the development and environment of students. Students depart from concepts to analysis or from analysis to concepts of language, use, and understanding.

5. Constructivistic Methods

The central assumption of the constructivist method is learning it finds. That is, even though the teacher conveys something to students, they do mental processes or brain work on that information so that the information enters their understanding. Constructivistic starts from problems that often arise from students themselves and then helps students solve and find steps to solve these problems.

6. Contextual Method

Learning using this method will facilitate learning in writing, namely the conception of learning that helps teachers connect subjects with real-world situations with learning life that motivates students to connect their knowledge and application with everyday life. This method can be applied in one of the learning to write descriptions. Students can learn in real-world situations, not in the mundane world
